01 // What We Do
Teaching Nepali to children growing up outside Nepal
The Global Education Program teaches Nepali to children growing up outside Nepal. We started in 2020 as an initiative of GBLO, and we've been running weekly online classes since. Most of our students were born here. They understand more Nepali than they can speak, and somewhere around fourth or fifth grade many stop trying.
02 // How Class Works
Once a week, online, grouped by reading level
Class meets once a week. Children learn to read and write Devanagari, build the vocabulary they actually need, and practice speaking with other kids their age. The culture comes with it: festivals and what they're for, songs, stories, and the courtesies that don't survive translation.
